Award Results 2022
Wednesday 22nd February saw The Engineering Trust hold its Annual Awards Results and Presentation Evening, celebrating 2022, sponsored by EAL Awards, part of Enginuity Group.
The first physical awards evening in three years, the awards are an opportunity for apprentices, employees, and employers to come together and celebrate excellence in apprenticeships. The process of finding winners began in October 2022 when nominations were invited under four categories.
Apprentice of the Year, judged by The Manufacturer
Trevor Woodger MBE Award for Career Progression, judged by The Engineering Trust
Above & Beyond Award, judged by TBAT Innovation
Apprentice Employer of the Year Award, judged by Priddey Marketing
The Engineering Trust
The Engineering Trust was set up as a registered Charity in 1983 by a group of engineering employers based in Oxfordshire with the goal of promoting engineering apprenticeships and training. Our Annual Awards are key to our mission and allow us to celebrate the achievements of those we work with in the sector, through our subsidiary company Engineering Trust Training Ltd that delivers work based apprenticeships in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.
Mark Vingoe, CEO of The Engineering Trust and Engineering Trust Training Ltd said: “The awards are a great opportunity to recognise and celebrate the fantastic people we are privileged to work with. I was really impressed with the standard of nominations, they seem to get stronger every year, making the job of our judges very difficult. Each nominee showed excellence within their role or within the apprenticeship opportunities they were facilitating within their organisation, with staff at every level working hard to give apprentices the best experience possible.
Our industry is in desperate need of engineers and apprenticeships are a fantastic tool to bring new people into the business and train the next generation who will take their organisation into the future.
Lastly, thanks to our sponsors EAL and the judges for their continued support of the Awards."

As a leading Awarding Organisation with a 30-year heritage, EAL is delighted to have celebrated the value of apprenticeships with The Engineering Trust at their Annual Awards. The awards focus on the achievements of both apprentices and innovative engineering individuals, businesses and educators who are making a difference to our everyday lives.
Michael Scarrott, Product Team Leader at EAL says, “It was an honour for EAL to be sponsoring this fantastic event and celebrating the development of inspiring engineering apprentices who can change our world. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, commitment, and talent, and we are confident that they will continue to make a positive impact on the future of engineering and manufacturing.
The future of engineering is bright, and we have no doubt that apprentices will continue to inspire and drive innovation in the engineering and manufacturing industry. We wish you all nominees, finalists, and winners the very best in their future endeavours.”
EAL has been at the heart of the development of apprenticeship standards - supporting employer stakeholder groups for key industry occupations since 2013 when the apprenticeship reforms began. As a dedicated AO, we support employers in developing new apprenticeship standards to ensure they align with the industry skills required to meet current and future demands. EAL will continue to work with employers, centres and learners to shape the future for sustainable engineering.
