CHAMPIONING ENGINEERING
INSPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH STEM
Our work with young people includes our STEM IN SCHOOLS programme, which delivers practical, engaging STEM activities to pupils in years 5 to 11, helping them connect classroom learning to real-world examples.
We run STEM SUMMER COURSES, providing exciting holiday programmes for 8 to 14-year-olds that include visits to engineering employers, giving participants first-hand experience of the industry and insight into the wide range of career opportunities available.
We work with schools on engineering projects, including building racing go-karts. Our first project, TEAM BARDWELL, has been a great success, and we look forward to developing similar initiatives with more schools in the future.
STEM IN SCHOOLS
STEM in Schools brings practical engineering activities directly into primary and secondary school environments.
We deliver engaging, hands-on sessions that help pupils (Year 5 to Year 11) explore real engineering concepts through practical challenges, teamwork, and problem solving, supported by local employers who bring the world of work into the classroom.
Our sessions are designed to support schools with meaningful, curriculum-linked STEM engagement.
- Providing fun, hands-on exploration of engineering-related concepts
- Developing problem solving and team working skills
- Increasing awareness of STEM careers, options, and pathways
- Linking classroom learning to real STEM employers and careers (aligned with Gatsby Benchmarks, including Benchmark 4 and 5)
- Reinforcing National Curriculum content

STEM SUMMER COURSES
Designed for 8-13 year olds (based on school years) who have an interest in STEM, our summer courses are a week long course where children explore and complete fun STEM projects.
Our aim is to link what they do on the course with real life engineering so, for one afternoon they will go off-site to an engineering business for a tour and to meet an engineer!
Sessions are centred around practical, hands-on activities where children can problem solve and be creative. Children complete mini projects each day as well as a build project across the whole week with as many activities as possible following our mantra ‘make your own and take it home’! Junior and Senior programmes follow the same theme but with differentiation to suit the abilities of each age group.
More information about the courses, venues, cost and booking will be available from January 2027 ahead of courses running in August.
TEAM BARDWELL
Team Bardwell is our collaborative project with Bardwell School, designed to deliver a fun, exciting, and challenging go-kart build experience for students.
Working alongside our staff in weekly sessions, students build their own racing kart before competing in the national STEM On Track programme.
Throughout the project, students at Bardwell School work together to build the racing kart, developing practical engineering and problem-solving skills while building confidence, teamwork, and essential workplace behaviours.
The programme provides young people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in meaningful, hands-on STEM learning, inspiring future aspirations and demonstrating what they can achieve working together.
